How I support your child
Every child is different — and that’s exactly how I approach my work.
There’s no pressure for your child to open up straight away, and no expectation for them to have the right words. We start by building trust, helping them feel comfortable, safe, and understood.
From there, I gently support them to understand their emotions, build confidence, and feel more in control of themselves and their everyday experiences.
To guide this, I use my own framework: The SHINE Method.
It’s a simple, child-friendly approach that helps children understand themselves, develop confidence, and learn how to handle what they’re feeling in a way that feels manageable.
Every session is adapted to the child, whether that’s through conversation, movement, visualisation or creative activities.
More about my SHINE Method:

Every session is different, depending on your child.
Some sessions might include:
Talking things through in a calm, supportive way
Creative activities to help express thoughts and feelings
Simple breathing or grounding techniques
Gentle tools to help manage worries or big emotions
Building confidence through small, achievable steps
There’s no pressure and no judgement, just space for your child to be themselves.
What a session might look like:
How I build trust first:
Before anything else, we focus on helping your child feel safe.
This might mean:
taking things slowly
not diving straight into “problems”
allowing them to open up in their own time
Because real progress happens when a child feels comfortable and understood.
How change happens:
Change doesn’t happen overnight, and it’s not about “fixing” your child.
It happens gradually, as they begin to:
understand their emotions
feel more in control of themselves
build confidence in who they are
approach situations differently
Small shifts build over time, and those shifts last.
For you as a parent:
You’re an important part of this too.
Where helpful, I can:
share gentle insights from sessions
suggest ways you can support your child at home
help you better understand what they might be feeling
So you feel more confident supporting them day-to-day.
Every child is different, and there is no one “right way” to do this. My role is simply to support, guide, and create a space where your child can feel safe enough to grow in confidence and feel more like themselves.
If this feels like the right kind of support for your child, we can start with a simple conversation.

Build what’s within them — confidence, resilience and self-belief.
So they can handle whatever life brings, in their own way.
